Instrument Hire

If you are interested in learning an instrument but aren't sure if you want to commit to buying, why not make use of our instrument rental scheme? Hiring an instrument with us can give you the opportunity to learn something new, and if you decide to purchase, can make you eligible for a discount worth 3 months hire fees.

How does it work?

Come in to the shop with the necessary documents and complete our hire agreement form. The first month's rental is paid at the time of hiring, and subsequent payments will be made via standing order. Whilst no deposit is required, there is a minimum hire period of 3 months.

All of our hire instruments are regularly serviced and inspected, and come complete with all of the essential accessories required to get you started, so you're ready to play from the moment get home!

What do I need?

• Proof of Address (e.g. Utilities Bill or Driving Licence)
• Credit or Debit card
• Chequebook/Address of your bank

What about maintaining/returning the instrument?

You are responsible for the instrument when it is in your care, including insuring the instrument and day-to-day maintenance costs (such as replacing broken strings, broken reeds etc), but not servicing due to normal wear and tear.

To return the instrument, just bring it back to the shop any time after the initial three-month period, complete with any provided accessories. Our staff will check the instrument, and if everything is satisfactory you will be given a receipt, which you should retain as evidence of the return. You will also need to confirm payment cancellation with your bank.

What if I want to purchase the instrument?

If you decide to purchase the instrument you are hiring, or wish to purchase a new instrument, a maximum of 3 months rental fees will be deducted from the price of the instrument. Ex-hire instruments may be subject to further discounts.

For example, if you were hiring a violin, and decided to purchase one, you would be entitled to a £21 (£7/month x3) discount. If the violin had a retail value of £100, it would then cost £79.

Please note that if you have been hiring for longer than 3 months, the maximum discount of 3 month's fees still applies.
